We believe that every woman and girl deserves the power and confidence to boldly live the life she chooses.
Why Did We Start Flare?
Sara and Quinn are mission driven entrepreneurs who believe that business has a role to play in making the world a better place. They met as students at Harvard Business School. While being barraged with updates in the news about sexual assault on college campuses across the US, they bonded over their shared experience with the issue.
They believe that physical and sexual violence is a threat to women globally and a hurdle with the potential to hold women back from living the lives they want. It is clear that solving this problem requires systemic changes in areas including sex education and women’s rights, which will take time (though we’re committed to being a part of that fight!) However, Quinn and Sara saw a problem that can be solved in the near term. Existing personal safety devices on the market are antiquated (like mace, pepper spray, whistles, or personal alarms) and women aren’t using them because they are not suited for their needs and are inconvenient to carry around. So they set out to create a better personal safety device using modern technology. Their goal is to be rooted in facts (not myths) about physical and sexual violence against women and to be a technology provider that integrates seamlessly into women’s lives.
They founded Flare to make jewelry to keep you safe, so you can live your life.
